We are open for business!

The extension of the Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown in South Africa with the strict regulations enforced on the whole country, had a tremendously bad effect on the tourism industry. All the hotels, guesthouses, guest farms, and lodges had to close their doors for business, with no idea when the government will allow tourists, local travelers or guests to travel and book their accommodation again.

We are now in the second week of the national lockdown of Level 4, 47 days ongoing, where the government allowed certain companies to open for business, but all the accommodation venues are still restricted and remained closed.

One of the possibilities for us as a guesthouse group to survive was to apply like everybody else for an upgrade of our CPIC certificates, and to file for official permission to the Tourism Department of South Africa.

This measurement was to ensure that our venues are registered to host essential and front line workers during the phases of the upcoming weeks and months of the lockdown. Broadway Bellville Guesthouse has the advantage of its location, being across the street and neighbour to one of the more popular Medi Clinics and hospitals in the world, the Louis Leipoldt.

Throughout the years our guesthouse management developed a healthy relationship with the surrounded doctors and medical service providers, whereas we could assist in the accommodation of their patients and their families on pre-scheduled medical care or operations in the hospital.

Now that we were forced to stop our normal way of practice, the good news is that we can assist with hospital personnel and other essential workers that needed an overnight place. We are listed as such a venue by the local government of the Western Cape and on their recommended online portal named Hospitality Solutions, where all the Covid19 essential workers and employers can book their reservations on special COVID Rates.

In Conclusion

Nobody knows what the future holds for us, and as frustrating as it is, we all have to endure the questionable regulations enforced by the government. Whether they prolong the inevitable or prevent the worst of the peak they so dread themselves. The consequences of the weakened economy and the loss of millions of revenue across the board could lead to the worse outcome nobody anticipated

The only plan of action is for us all to find a way to go on or to face the unknown future, and wait for some miracle or turn of events initiated by the government to save our economy. The day of tomorrow can only be mapped out but nothing can be guaranteed. Broadway Guesthouse will go on, we will be there when people need us, and will always see to the needs of our guests no matter the circumstances.
